I'm talking about what you did in 2007 because you started with what you did in 2007 for a reason. I skimmed the rest of the resume` that you posted and think it also means nothing for the larger topic.

But, since you want me to acknowledge it, congrats on also finding a job in 2008 and 2009. You aren't the only person who did so, and even many of those people still understand the general sentiment expressed in this thread. It is unfortunate that you do not.

What now?

If I were him I would do it, too.

Must post more WNY/WPA colloquialisms.

I doubt it's much of an option for someone who got laid off in his late 40s.

We all know, and have said, that some people may not be trying very hard. I think people ripped Kevin a new one because he basically said you wouldn't be unemployed unless you weren't trying hard, and went so far as to tell people here that they weren't trying hard enough. It wasn't just his opinions that got people riled up, it was the "Let them eat cake" packaging those opinions were wrapped in.

See, once again you go to name-calling. One minute you stand behind people who are complaining that they can't find jobs, giving the impression that you would be happy for those who would find employment, then you feel the need to tell me that what I have done is not that big of a deal, once I've proved that not everyone is going through this whole economic mess.

Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you have to call them names. Do you have a job? If so, why don't you find jobs for other people on this board? I don't even understand why people were freaking out on Kevin asking him to hire people (that he most likely never met-nor has any idea what kind of work ethic they have) just because he is gainfully employed.

Good for Kevin for being employed. Good for anyone who has a career or is in school working towards a career. Shame on anyone who is trying to put those people down and call them names because they disagree with what they have said.

Good for you that you were able to find a job each consecutive year....but you haven't proved anything except that you and Kevin are asshats when it comes to this topic.

You were able to find a job, good for you. Not everyone can, but you clearly can't grasp that concept. By saying that people should go out and send out XX applications/resumes, or say they should join the military, etc is PROVING (so maybe you did prove something) that you can't grasp that concept.

So just leave it at that. No one is calling you any names, no one is doing anything except disagreeing with you.

You just called me an asshat and Dr.Phil called people who agree with Kevin minions. I don't see why it makes me an asshat because I've offered ways people can find jobs, since they are saying they are having a hard time. Earlier, people were making rude remarks to Kevin because he commented that people should try harder (or whatever he said) to get a job.

If you are given the option to join the military, send out x amount of resumes, do a job you are "over-qualified" for, or do something you don't exactly "love" or feel "passionate" about and you turn it down, then I agree with the article that SOME people (not all) are unemployed because they want to be-not in the sense that people wake up and say, "Wow, I love being unemployed," but in the sense that they have been given options, yet chose to ignore them. There are jobs out there. Some people just don't want to "lower" themselves to do them.

That really is a COS. that BS about there being some jobs Americans won't do. There are always Americans willing to do those jobs. The issue is that the people OFFERING those jobs want to hire someone they can pay a salary that is significantly lower than what someone can really live on in this country. Americans don't think they are too good for these jobs. These businesses are trying to cut costs and hire cheap laborers. Mickey D's is a prime example.

And it is ironic that you think some folks need to adjust their entitlement mentalities. You would do well to take your own advice. I have read your comments on here and to be honest, I felt a distinct sense of uneasiness. All jokes and snarkiness aside, you should watch the arrogance you display about having a job the rest of your life. That saying that pride goeth before a fall does not just come out of the blue. There is truth to it. You should be careful.

I think what Kevin is dancing around saying is "I think most people who are unemployed and continuing to draw unemployment are lazy black people who just dont want to work". I really HATE to bring race into this, but thats really what I think he's hinting at.

If the number of jobs in America are finite, and the number of applicants in America are finite as well, but they outnumber the jobs, will the rejected applicants be unemployed because "they want to be"?

Temp agencies arent an option, because there are no jobs. Someone said they had a friend working in temporary staffing...well I have several friends who have CAREERS in this field, and they've all said they've never seen anything like this (recession)...they are flooded with candidates but they have no where to place them.

Starting a business isnt an option either. Unless you've noticed, the credit markets are still pretty cold....and banks are making restrictions on who they lend to. So how is someone suppossed to start a business with no capital? Are they suppossed to use the thousands of of excess dollars they have stuffed in their mattresses?

I'm not getting angry or emotional or putting out my situation (i am employed but I have been unemployed before) because that really wont convince anyone who DOESNT WANT TO BE CONVINCED regardless of their poor logic.

Yep. I agree. As I was driving home today, I drove past Burger King and there was a "Now Hiring" sign out in front. I mean, I know it's flipping burgers for pennies, but at least it's a temporary job until you get something else.
