Hmmmm, Frater Margolin (elected to GC in 1979) had not been born then, I was only 4 years old in 1951, the name Hibbs doesn't ring any bells, so........
D?

we WERE stupid! RLC's not held in Spring of 1999, instead had the Centenial Celebration. RLC's are just returning as of Spring 2002. Some smaller conferences were held in 2000 and 2001, but were not very well attended, nor successful.

true or false?

Further, it is also suggested than an alternate attend as well. But, what about colonies? Are they required to send a delegate as well? And if so, do they have a vote?

I don't ever remember reading about colonies and conclaves in the Black Book, so I would assume they are not required to send a delegate and they wouldn't have a vote. But hey I could be wrong the last edition of the Black Book I have is from 97.

First - a colony must attend either RLC or Conclave prior to Chartering.
Second, to my knowledge, they do NOT have a vote.

I think the first TKE chapter house to be occupied was known as
the Daniel Webster Wilder mansion, the first fraternity house at
Wesleyan. They said it was inadequate and cold; it was leased.
They purchased a house at 416 E. Walnut, I think, for $8,500
from Prof. Zeller, and this was the first owned one, in the spring
of 1910, occupying it until the fall of 1924 according to Tex Flint.
ALSO... I goofed...it was another local Phi alumnus,
Andrew Jackson "Jack" Barr, not Richard Henry Little, who was
the influential Phi Delta Theta attorney, killed when his Pierce
Arrow stalled on the camelback crossing between Bloomington
and Normal. Had he not been killed, we would all likely be Phi
Delts today. Barr further had said he would build us a house and he, being single, would live in it too...'twas not to be.
HEGEMONS--take note, triviologists, too, and know it was BARR
not LITTLE who was killed in the Great Arrow, made by Pierce
Arrow. He was returning from a date, and was hit by an Illinois Central train. Hope he had at least some good luck that night.

Golden Book
This was a super question...NOW the rest of the story.
There were TEN golden books done by Pete Leland of the
Leland Publishers, and the rest were red, and commonly
called "Golden Book" to refer to the anniversary, not the color.
Each new TKE chapter would be presented a copy of the
TKE Golden Book to be placed in their college library. So,
if you cannot find one, check your college library.
As to the ten Golden ones, I think the Grand Coucil got some,
and I know Dick Hall got one. Dick had signatures of the
prominent Tekes in his, and since I bought one from HQ, I
did the same, but by the time I got around getting signatures,
Jimmie Love and Wallace Macauley had died. Many of you
have signed my book, which I still have.
Dick Hall got carried away at Zeta Iota "Canadian Alpha" one
night and gave them his gold Golden Book. The chapter is
now gone and so far as I know no one has tried to trace it.
My Golden Book is the only one full of early TKE signatures
I have been asked to donate or will it to the TKE Archives.
What archives? The so-called archives is in such a shambles
that not even Jim Kane would tackle that project. I am not trying
to blame anyone...there was a period when these things were
not important to TKE...in time, they will be.
So, there were gold Golden Books commemorating the Golden
Anniversary of TKE, ten of them, the rest red. YITB, Erik Conard

Yes I am sure they will be. I would have always taken care of all that stuff. Set up a TKE museum where all TKE's could go and see all the history they have read and heard about in person. Maybe I will see something like that in my lifetime. My school's library doesn't have the golden book I looked. I wonder why they don't? Maybe it got lost or stolen. Do you know if they still give the golden book to new chapters?
