The real question is, when are we going to stop feeling shocked by the gas prices?
They showed a funny piece on the news of people complaining about how expensive gas was.. how are people going to make it with prices that high, on and on. Then they revealed that the piece was when it went over $2 for the first time. Who wouldn't be doing a happy dance for $2 gas now?

I don't think that will ever happen. There was an article on CNN mobile that said most people think gas prices will "stay around the same or get higher" in the near future. Every other time that question has been asked in the past, consumers said it would eventually go back down b/c that's what it has always done before.
I wouldn't be surprised to see $5-$6 regular unleaded in the future.

$4.68 for diesel today. Thankfully, I've got enough to get through to the middle of the week when hopefully it will drop down a bit, but damn.

I hate to say it, but that's wishful thinking
I used to fill up when my car was down to only 1/4 left, and now I will fill up when it gets to about 1/2 b/c gas isn't getting any cheaper.

Most of the places around here jack the price up for Memorial Day weekend and then drop it a few cents midway through the week after. I'll take even a few cents right now, sad!

I noticed that traffic going to the Jersey Shore was a lot lighter this weekend than in past Memorial Day Weekends. Yes, there was the Friday Night crawl down the Garden State Parkway (as I observed walking in a park adjacent to the GSP). On Saturday and Sunday, though, there was not much traffic at all.
Mr. F&F & I decided against getting season passes this year, due LARGELY to the increasing price of gas!

As a local, I've noticed that there's less traffic than usual, as well. Although it's still horrendous. [sigh] Benny season has begun.

This may be a stupid question, but why is diesel so dang expensive right now? At first I thought refining costs, but it used to be cheaper than unleaded! What happened?

Welcome to the real world of getting screwed!
Diesel is from the bottom of the barrel and the cheepest to refine!
But, it is needed, so guesss what?????
A friend said his dad was in the oil business and if it wasnt for diesel, they would have just pourd it out into the ground.
But since it used to be cheaper and peeps started buying Diesel and we get deliverys it of course goes up!!!
We pay for it one way or the other!

I work in a...mmm...less affluent section of my county. I'm looking across the street and regular is $4.17.

It's still $3.69 here. I am not looking forward to going back to California prices. I'll die, I tell you, DIE.
