Yep, that is the correct USC. While I don't know officially whether or not they presented I would be very suprised if they didn't. It would have been a recolonization, there are plenty of alumnae in the area from our other Cali chapters including UCLA and a former national council member is one of their greek advisors plus it was a jewish-interest sorority
I am actually really surprised we didn't get it but congratulations to SDT.

I had no idea that UNF was expanding. That school has really grown over the last few years.

Yeah, it has! If I can remember correctly, they will be building houses soon (how soon, I don't know).

My daughter, a freshman DZ at the University of Alabama, heard there were approximately 2,000 pnms signed up for Fall 2007 recruitment. The source may be hearsay originating at the DZ house, the Greek Life Office, or the local pub, for all I know. However, UA had over 1,400 pnms sign up for recruitment last Fall. By the year 2010, the University of Alabama expects to increase student enrollment by 8,000 students, including graduate and law students, so you might expect the number of pnms to increase proportionately each year. Moreover, the pnm total for the past few years has increased by one to two hundred per year. If the estimated number of 2,000 pnms for Fall 2007 is true, how does the University accommodate so many young ladies? Will there likely be further colonization by non-represented sororities to fulfill the demand for Greek membership? The current houses on campus can only handle a finite number of actives, right? Any thoughts or comments?

According to their Greek Life website, the number of Greeks has tripled this past year. They recently added Delta Upsilon to their IFC chapters.

The problem at Alabama (and other Southern schools that are steeped in tradition) is that a new sorority is looked at somewhat askance. Women would rather be in no sorority at all (or a chapter with 300 women that they barely know) than the "wrong" sorority.
The NPC sororities that aren't represented there are quite aware of this and as you would imagine, very reluctant to sink hundreds of thousands of dollars into a colonization effort that may not pan out.

Gotta be rumor...very few sign up this early. Forms are not even up yet on the Panhellenic Web site. Most sign up during or after summer orientation sessions. But sororities are beginning to prepare now for fall recruitment. There's probably a lot of talk, especially with Dr. Witt's famous campaign to increase enrollment. I would not be surprised if recruitment figures hit 2,000 in two to four years. Looks like expansion is inevitable. But don't expect that Panhellenic to be happy about it...or for life to be easy for the new group(s) on the block. We're talking an investment of several million for a house...and nobody knows where they would be. It'll be interesting....

Does anyone know when the expansion will actually take place? In the fall or this expansion still in the works? My cousin goes there and I was telling her she should really give recruitment a shot and with Theta on board it might give her something to be very active in!
