Their nail polish was alright for the colors...too bad they don't make it anymore. Like I said before the nail formula wasn't that great be/c it didn't dry that well (But I've noticed that in other polishes)...anyway! I just don't think their makeup is any better than anything sold at Sephora and at Sephora I don't have to listen to a sales pitch. Plus, their face wash stuff (usually what they start a party off with) is awful if you have sensitive skin like me. It had a "burnt-like" affect on my skin.
They did have this hand stuff my mom liked...can't remember what it was called though...

I remember Mary Kay Satin Hands. Someone gave me one and it was okay, but I prefer what I've gotten at Bath and Body Works with coupons.

I'm addicted to L'Occitane's shea butter hand cream. It's awesome stuff and smells so good.

Dont understand how a person achieve the level of directorship and then turns around and tarnish the image of MaryKay Ash. Its like turning on your family and denouncing your kinship. MaryKay is not all about selling and buying make-up. I have a degree in psychology and I own a very lucrative company, when presented the opportunity to be apart of one of the oldest cosmetic company that still puts women first, I jumped. Why not because I want to push make-up on people, but because there was a time in my life when I was broken and confused, I feel God allowed me to go through that period of homeless confusion only to bring to this point of wanting to help women who are like I was, find their way back.

Its nothing looking in the mirror and seeing a beautiful reflection of yourself despite the negative situation you may find yourself in. Stop trying to mar the image of Marykay. You would not want anyone to try to tear down a legacy you built.

A friend of mine (one of my best friends, actually) started selling this during the fall. I bought all of the face wash, makeup... basically one of everything she had. Two months later, my face was broken out in huge cyst-like pustules of acne and my face was red and rough. I have always been told that I have decent skin, so this was traumatic. I went running back to my Clinique girl begging for forgiveness (and some emergency acne products). It has been right at a week, and all of the redness and acne are virtually gone, and my pores have closed up quite a bit.

This means your consultant did not do her job and find the right skin care for your skin type. Not every product MK offers fits every single skin profile, however for 90% of the population it does. In your case, either you did not use the products correctly (over used) or you needed a more gentler product for your skin. Some skin types can't deal with the TimeWise products because of the anti-aging ingredients in them. Therfore this can happen to anybody. OH and by the way, if your skin is not used to the Microderm and actually being clean - it is normal for the toxins in your skin to come to the surface causing the pimples....this goes away after continued use. But I'm sure your new consultant friend probably did not know this due to lack of experience. So sorry you did not have the best experience with the product, but that does not mean the product is not good. The same thing could happen to me if I go to the clinique counter and buy their product!!! LOL.

Posts like these extremely aggravate me! People who know nothing about something and have something negative to say about it!!!! How dare you! I've been selling Mary Kay for the past five years and just like ANY business oppty you only get what you put into it in return. If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby. Treat it like a business and it will pay you like a business DUH very simple math here. MK is a not MLM or pyramid...YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO RECRUIT... and YES YOU CAN MAKE MONEY WITHOUT RECRUITING!!! In 2007, the Queen of Sales was a woman who could not speak english, (spanish), lived in NY with limited transportation and only sold 1 product...the Microderm Abrasion set at $55. AND SHE WAS THE QUEEN OF SALES...this example here shows you that you can choose any method YOU want to make money with MK...the bottom line is how much WORK you put into the business.

The nerve of you ignorant people to say it's a scam. It is the NUMBER ONE SKIN CARE AND COSMETICS COMPANY IN THE WORLD. And has been for the past 14 years. This business has been featured on dateline, cnn and other big TV shows as one of the few businessess SURVIVING the friggen recession. This company also produces the most million dollar women than an other company in the freaking world!!!

Why MK is not sold in stores? Yet another ignorant question....why because it is to protect the business owners (consultants) woman who are supporting their own businesses. How do you think it would affect the consultants if products were sold in stores at MASS quantities!!!!!! Us consultants wouldn't be able to strive on our businesses if this is the case. So MK Ash herself knew what she was doing and she believed in providing that special customer service that you don't get when you go to the MAC counter or any other beauty counter and that is the dam truth!!! This is what makes the MK opportunity better than all the rest that our out there.

MK's mission was to enrich the lives of woman. And she has done this and the company continues to follow this mission after her passing. I encourage any woman who has been thinking about it...to try it for at least one year whole souled and then come back to me and tell me it did nothing for you! I have been it for five years, brougt my mom in, who brought her sister in and a friend and we all have seen first hand what MK can do (with or without recruiting). And this company BY FAR is NOT a scam!!!

Completely missing the excrutiatingly obvious point that if MK WAS sold in stores, the consultant system would not exist. Strike #3, you're out. And I didn't even have to touch your other posts.

You're giving her too much credit. Her username was strike #1 for me.

The MK slumber party must've ended, and Chantelicious must be the newbie who has to go post great things about the company to any blog/website/etc. where bad things are being said. You know, that's MK's pre-initiation hazing ritual.

Citation, please? I have asked for one several times and no Mary Kay shill has been able to provide me with one.

Yes, because in this economy, what the people need is MAKEUP! Not food, gas, or the ability to pay the mortgage.

Your crazy, flying-off-the-handle posts aren't exactly doing anything to dismiss the Mary Kay consultants are brainwashed stereotype.

Let's talk lingerie/sex toy parties. Actually, they should probably combine those with Longaberger so you would have a nice sturdy country-cute looking basket to put your dildo in.

Jesus Christ Lady - you are not required to respond to EVERY post in this thread.

If you get out of your business what you put into it, then run along and go get some business, because you're not putting anything into it playing around on message boards.

I sold Mary Kay for about a year. My problem with the company is the constant repackaging of products, which causes the consultants to have to buy more because everyone wants the "new design" and then the consultant is stuck with a bunch of lipstick, eyeliner, whatever.

Also, all the "fakeness" drove me nuts. I don't speak from scripts. lol and the CDs also cracked me up. That's just not me.

If it works for you great, but some of us see a lot of fake, script reading consultants who won't leave us alone.

And the products aren't that great. I'm a bit of a product diva (what lead me to MK to begin with) and I love philosophy skin care much more than I ever did with MK. (Also a HUGE fan of DuWop's new Cheek Venom but that probably belongs in another thread!)
