I actually felt sorry for Mady in this episode. She obviously feels so frustrated all of the time! The whole naming the puppy bit was such a big deal to her - just another example of how she reacts so strongly to being manhandled and powerless. I am the first one to say she needs discipline in most cases, but I am starting to sympathize with her because Kate is turning into such a B*%ch about everything.
Truthfully, I can't stand Kate anymore and I question almost all of her motives these days. But I love these little kiddos and I can't quit watching them! Aagh!

Intersting article about the Gosselins in Philadelphia Magazine
Interesting comments by readers
(I have to admit I am not a fan of the show because I cringe watching Kate cut Jon's cajones off time and time again. He needs to grow a pair!)

Interesting comparison by one of the posters to the Dionnes. Although there were so many more things involved in that, like the Dionnes being French and the Canadian gov't trying to downplay that fact.

He could've definitely picked a less collegey leisure time and one without the publicity.
How old is he?
I think most of the posts on FML are by him.

True.
Also, I *think* he's 31 or 32ish.

Yeah I think he's around 32-33. I know that he was around 23 when Cara & Mady were were born, and they (I believe) are going to turn 9 this year.

He was born in 1977. BF couldn't believe it when he found out he was older than Jon.
I saw the pictures of him and the girls at the bar and I honestly don't see what the big deal is. He looked sloshed, but it wasn't as if he had his hands on their boobs. The women looked like they were fans taking a picture with a celebrity.
If Jon Gosselin appeared wasted every week on tmz.com, I'd say he might have a problem. But he was on vacation visiting his mother. There are other kids out there whose parents commit atrocious behavior all the time. Worry about them instead. I think the Gosselin kids will be just fine.
Oh, and it's not cool to call someone an alcoholic if they haven't admitted that to themselves first.

I didn't - I said I was SURPRISED that, given he is married to Kate, he ISN'T.

From the outside looking in, Jon and Kate look very dry, monotone, and boring.
It looks like they love the kids but just tolerate each other (i.e. "we're in this together").
On today's rerun, Jon and Kate gave each other a cordial kiss on the cheek and half-assed hug. Jon said "we love each other." I mean, couples say "I love you." But to constantly say "we love each other" seems like they're trying to convince themselves, each other, and probably everyone else.

In their defense - it is tough with a "normal" number of children to have a decent relationship with your spouse. I totally understand if they don't have a great deal of romance in their lives now. But I still don't like the way Kate treats him.

^^^I agree. I have been a little offput since the Aunt Jodie incident, too. I think it is a red flad when family disappears with only half hearted reasons to explain it. Something is starting to smell a bit at Jon and Kate Plus Eight.
Plus, unless it is my imagination, the whole tone of the show is different. Kate, please, please, stop telling us what a pain those kids, dogs, your lives are! I think we want to watch these cute kids to feel good.

Hmmm - I don't know the gum incident. I need to catch up on my internet gossip!
You bring up a good point about Kate's parents and their possible reasons for not being on tv...
But I have to disagree with the comment that the kids can say no. They are just now getting old enough to even be able to articulate that sort of decision. A group of multiples more than likely functions as a unit - pretty rare for one of them to really leave the group. Now, I think in another year or so that might change but the chances of one of them bucking their parents in any real way is rare for a preschooler.
I think we need a Barbara Walters interview to get to the bottom of this..lol.

I can't remember when it happened (2 seasons ago, maybe? - so they must have been 6 or 7), but I know for a fact that if Mady and Cara don't want to be filmed, they say so. I know Mady's made "No Cameras Allowed" signs for her room before. AFAIK, Jon, Kate, and the crew have been respectful of that. Mady and Cara's room (after the renovation in the old house) did not have the bright filming lights the other rooms had because they often retreated to their room for privacy.
