Can either one of you detail just what you mean?
Gas is gas. It is cross-sold by the companies all the time.

Since I don't know too much about economics, has the supply really dipped down or has demand shot through the roof?

I am soooooo glad I don't drive.
At the minimum, I hope this encourages people with access to public transportation to actually use it (as opposed to my husband's loony friends who choose to drive into DC and spend so long looking for parking that it would be faster to Metro anyway).

Until Citgo decreases their price by the 11 cent difference, then I'll just have bad gas.
Yes, you may quote that for posterity.

The supply is there - just not being released by OPEC. Basically it is greed on the part of MANY different entities involved in oil and gas. Oil companies have been posting ever increasing record profits - and the state and federal governments are LOVING these high prices because it means more tax revenue. Unfortunately all other aspects of the economy are hurting - obviously consumers/drivers are hit hardest but also tourism since people won't be traveling as much.

Some stations are at $4.20 this morning. All the others are still $3.99, though.

^It's not that easy at all. OPEC isn't going to release a bunch of reserves when they know damn well that there is plenty of oil readily available for extraction/production.
None of this will change until government policy and legislation changes.

I just paid $3.999 for a tank of gas.
Per gas buddy, the station is the lowest in area.
The station just up the street is selling gas at $4.079
There was not line at at, I just drove up and filled up.
I asked the gas jockey what was up and find out the pump
is not able to be set above $3.999!
I know where I am getting my gas until the pumps get replaced!

$3.95 here for Regular. I'm glad we chose to rent a mini-van for next week's vacation rather than an RV!!
