My Big Sister lived with 5 other girls this semester who weren't in a sorority and everytime me or anyone else would come over they would all come out and chant it. They were actually the ones who taught that one to me along with a few others that aren't appropriate to post on GC PM me if you wanna know. Basically KLP's are loud and hyper and aren't known for our abilities to keep quiet. I fit in perfectly.

PS we're a local which is why you haven't heard of us

LOL...I can only imagine what you were taught that can't be said on GC.

Question: Why were nonmembers teaching you all chants, along with your Big Sister? LOL

Depends how drunk you are.

Seriously, though, I would say no, but I guess it depends on the chapter. Mostly we do chants at recruitment, spirit events, celebrations. stuff like that. Like the chant in my signature we use at rush and derby days.

Well not where I'm from...to each their own. A lot of NPCs have alcohol policies that state various things, though I haven't heard of a provision about doing chants at a bar, I'm assuming they wouldn't be too thrilled with it. =)

Definitely not, we aren't supposed to wear letters or anything that identifies us as part of a group when at a bar, party etc. so that we don't bring down the reputation of the group. However the exception to this rule (because as we all know, to every rule there is an exception) is for off-campus Greek Week and for bid night because all the sororities go out together and have a party together at the same bar.

She was asking an honest question to further her "greek" education, is there something wrong with that?

Oh they aren't traditional chants, they're just cute cheers and stuff that we do for fun and spirit. There's nothing ritualistic in essence about them so anyone can do them. I know like cheers for all of the other sororities on campus and sometimes for like Greek Week we'll all do each others cheers for unity.

I'm sure there are literally TONS of them...but let's not hijack this thread any further. We can start a new one. It's gotten so far off topic it might be on another message board at this point.

Okay, that makes A LOT of sense. I was confused because (I can't remember who) alluded to her needing to go to some "bars," or something.
