Liam is getting popular in my area, too -- and as SWTX Belle said, it's not always being used as short for William. Just Liam.
Switching to girls names, I have all boys -- but had one been a girl, she would have been Allison. Mine are in their mid to late teens now, but Allison would still probably be the name I'd choose...though in recent years, I've fallen in love with the name Charlotte.
Hmm...Allison Charlotte...Charlotte Allison. If I went with Charlotte Allison, her full initials would be CAM, and wouldn't Cam be a cute nickname? Seriously, tho, why am I going here? I'm hot flashin' these days..

I have no idea what I would name a kid, but I can guarantee you it's not what Live-in wants to name a kid. If his names are still on the list we will just not be having them.

One is Mackenzie. Another is Cadence. I think they're completely stupid and insufferable. I quite literally cannot utter either of them without rolling my eyes. I should note that I think they would be fine for others (I'm not about walking up to people and being like "Your name is Mackenzie? That's a really stupid name."), I just cannot imagine a time where I would ever think "Hey, yes, this name is totally a reflection of the person I hope my child to become and my personality as well. Let's use this name." Also, I cannot imagine screaming either of those names out the back door.
Our list of "do not names" is getting longer the longer we wait to form babby since we have so many redundancies in both of our families.

Haha, nice.
In the past month, I've delivered countless Brayden/Jayden/Aiden/Cadens and all spelling variations thereof. I just smile and nod when the proud parents reveal that they've chosen one of those.

This weekend was BIL's girlfriend's baby shower. At the end, she announced the name for their daughter: Kassidy Grace, Kassi for short.
I've always liked that name...so much that it's the name my husband and I were going to name our son if he had been a girl (well, Cassidy Grace, Cassie for short). Looks like we'll have to come-up with a new name for a girl if I ever get pregnant again.

I have always liked Violet as a first or middle name for a girl, giving a nod to Sigma Kappa.

Husband and I were at a cocktail party last week and the subject of naming children came up. The guests were a combination of new grandparents and parents with preteens. Admittedly this is a very west coast crowd (so no "southern multiple naming" is generally done here).
I will say that one of my children does have my maiden name as his or her middle name. General consensus: misspelled names, cutsy names put kids at a disadvantage. As one grandmother (newly minted) said that she was grateful that the first set of names were rejected...if it was a girl the thought was: Bambee.
I'm not saying what the last name is except to say that this child would have had every teacher fighting for laughter control. The parents settled on Rebecca or Robert.
Cadence? as in music cadence?. Seriously?

^My wife and I have agreed on a general rule for naming. If it looks stupid as Dr. or Justice (name goes here), that name is off the table.

Great minds...although we only put Chief Justice in front of our kids' names.

My local paper has a "new baby" insert every year around the holiday season. If your baby was born during the year, you can submit their photo, name, and birthdate for publication in the insert. There are something like 200 babies in it every year.
I make sure to get the paper when it comes out simply for the entertainment value of seeing what people are naming their kids.
Every year there are some really bad ones. The ones I remember the most from the last one:
Cassadee (dumb spelling version of Cassidy)
Jakkelyn (dumb spelling version Jacqueline)
Lamar-Trae
Taquaerius
Gucci & Gucciana (boy/girl twins)
LaTayshanique

Slightly off but a friend of mine named her dog Bone quisha.
And lest some of you accuse her of racism or me of repeating something racist: Friend is African American so she said she could get away with it.
Oh...dog's call name? Rosie.

My brother and his wife are expecting their first in November. They remembered a list of names I proposed some time back and asked me to send them a copy. I'm not sure they remembered the context of my list, but here goes:
For a girl: Euthanasia
Mierda
Basura
Pneumonia
For twin girls: Conception and Contraception
For a boy: Scrotum
Merde
Bris
Gangrene
For twin boys: Oral and Anal
Somehow I suspect that they will choose something else.

dekeguy, lol. I would not be surprised if those were actual baby names somewhere.
We have friends who have a Cadence. She is aka Cady. Meh... not my favorite name.
We absolutely loved the name Ayla/Isla. It sounded horrible with our last name though. Just didn't flow right. If my husband has his way, and we have a 4th who happens to be a boy, he will be Tristan.
