Question -- should not the term be just BGLO or AAGLO instead of HBGLO? A main purpose is to uplift the African-American community. Even on the NPHC web site, the term "African-American Greek Letter Organizations" is used more often than not.

Founding to help preserve or uplift a culture/community is very special and those who join such organization do so because of those principles. Similarly, many of the Latino organization are specifically for uplifting the Latino community or culture.

This is very different than the general social fraternity/sorority or the multi-cultural fraternity/sororitiy, which are perhaps more alike even though they may use different recruitment technique.

These Auburn chapters were the latest victims of campus PC, and I'm glad they hired lawyers and preserved our right to dress up on Halloween.

This type of attitude is why I don't frequent greekchat much anymore.

As far as Hoosier's attitude, what is it you don't agree with? Freedom of speech is something that is a very important freedom in this country.

If you start to decide that certain things are not legal to say, who gets to decide this?

While I certainly do NOT agree with this group's choice of attire... It is my choice not to agree with them... as it is yours. At least in the US we are given the opportunity to hear people make asses of themselves in this fashion.

The organization on the other hand DOES have the right to police itself and should have closed them down, expelled every single active in the group, etc.. The school on the other hand recieves public funding and therefore should not have this right.

well, i disagree with him in saying it was stupid for the photographer to post those pics on the web. if it was all in clean fun, and they hired the photographer to publish photos on the web, the why is it stupid that he's doing his job? or is it stupid that those guys got caught? and if they really wanted to do something like that, why the hell would they want to hide something like it?

people who joke around and say things like that are also the type of people who say "we don't think about you like that" or something to the extent of "what, you can't take a joke?" if some person, came up to me, non-asian, and called me a chink, said person is going to get a beating.
