I saw them last night. (Free tickets) I'm not a big fan, but the music was good. I do have to say the presentation was cheesy & affected. My favorite person in the entire show was the young violinist, David Klinkenberg. He stole the show.
Not sure I'm going to add Brickman to my concert list. Oh well, I did list Dionne Warwick & Burt Bacharach -- I guess I will. Geez...what page is it on -- this thread is long!

Yes! Amos Lee was phenomenal. I wasn't really familiar with him so when I got home I listened to some of the songs that really WOWed me at the concert. He doesn't have the intensity or the passion in the studio though which was disappointing. I know that holds true for most singers but it just seemed like a completely different person. ?? Maybe he'll come out with a "Live" CD some time. I'd love that!

i agree. i like live recordings better. the energy, sound, and sometimes even the songs are different live. if i could do nothing but live recordings, i would choose to do that.
i really would've liked to see Ray LaMontagne and a girl, like Gillian Welch or someone, on the same bill as Dylan, Costello, and Amos.
there are live recordings on youtube from his appearance on Austin City Limits (best show ever.) they're all really good.
when artists come on NPR, live music from the interview is posted online at NPRs website.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=4541649
there's a live in-studio recording and live napster recordings on his website, too. amoslee.com

i just saw looked at the tour dates for Jason Isbell (formerly of Drive-By Truckers) and he's playing some of the same venues DBT is playing, separated by a week or 2.
the exception is Headliner's Music Hall (Louisville, KY,) when the Truckers will be there the very next night.
Jason Isbell Friday, February 29th
Drive-By Truckers Saturday, March 1st

Wow, I cannot believe I have never seen this thread before!!!
I've seen U2, NWA before Easy E died, LLCoolJ with Prince and Vanity 6, Lionel Ritchie, Bootsy Collins... A whole lot more, that I cannot remember...
I only like going to clubs with local bands now. One of my former co-workers is who I call a "rock star"--she has a band, pretty cool. My husband's co-workers plays in a blues band. I think going to the local scene is awesome and when I get to Vegas, then I see those shows.

Time for an update! On the 27th I'm going to a radio sponsored concert with:
Billy Idol! (YES! He's my reason for going)
Devo - The husband says they are good, I'm reserving judgement.
Blondie
Psychadelic Furs (again)
Twister Sister (meh)
And....wait for it, wait for it....
REO Speedwagon.
Sweet.
