As far as AOII, I have never seen any type of flag except at Conventions. So, I will have to let some of the other AOIIs on here answer for AOII. I know we don't sell flags and my own collegiate chapter never had a flag.

I showed one of my old roommates our keynote a few nights ago. It was fun to watch him guess what everything meant. I think he got maybe one thing right. :P

Ours is used for ritual only; I would appreciate it greater if no one asks further questions.

Similarly I know SK has a flag, but I also have never seen it (not been to convention) and I have no idea if any chapters have one or if it's just for internal use only. There aren't any pictures out there so I can't share anyway

Kappa has chapter flags at convention- kind of similar to the plaques that KSUViolet described.

From Kappa's blog a few months ago:

Parade of Flags: The Parade of Flags was introduced in 1986. It takes place the night before Convention opens and is the visual representation of Kappa’s permanent roll of chapters according to the dates of their founding. Alpha Deuteron Chapter leads the parade in honor of our first chapter, Alpha, founded at Monmouth College in 1870. The final chapter in the parade is the most recently installed chapter. In 2010, this chapter will be Eta Omicron, Northeastern University in Boston, installed in April 2010.

I've only ever seen a photo of our flag, and it was really pretty, but I cannot find a pic anywhere. Too bad, so sad!

I know from my wife's Kappa history book (History 2000: Kappa Kappa Gamma Through the Years, I think) that Kappa has a banner. I'm not finding a picture of it online, but it is (appropriately) in shades of blue with two or three large fleur-de-lis on it. I got the impression it's only used at convention or other national functions.

If I can get a good scan I'll post it.

ETA: Here it is. I like this page because it also shows the seal and the shingle/membership certificate.

Can you describe it?

I'm kind of hesitant to since I can't find anything 'public' about it anywhere and I'm not certain if that's because we don't use it often or we don't talk about Fight Club. *whoops there I go*

Maybe one of the seasoned conventionites knows better than I if it's displayed there or not.

The coolest part about this is that each chapter makes their own flag. They have certain specifications (like having the chapter designation on it) but they're all pretty original with stuff from their own school on it. Love it!

An AOII flag flies at IHQ everyday. Other than that, we don't really do flags. Of course, it looks nothing like the one posted in the picture from AXO's history book. Now, it's a white rectangular field with AOII in cardinal horizontally across the flag.

I hoped you might step in, because I thought the same thing. That said, our public website says we adopted the banner in 1915.

So at least we can acknowledge that we have a banner.

I never did the convention, so I can't say more...

Since it's on your website, I hope it's okay if I post a picture. The one shown here is cardinal field with letters. (A similar one can be seen on the virtual HQ tour in the Archives room.

Beautiful headquarters, btw!

I found out from AOII's historian that we have never had a flag. The one at Headquarters is just a regular old flag with no meaning and no symbolism on it like AOII Angel said.

I also found out that the flags I referred to at Convention in 1997 are actually considered banners for each chapter made especially for the Centennial Celebration.

Apparently the one in that very old picture I found is just that, a basic flag we submitted for the picture!

I've toured it! It is beautiful, and the women were very gracious. I LOVE the museums in different sorority HQs.

I guess I "misremembered" the way our flag looks at IHQ. Maybe we have both, but I could have sworn it was the other way. Oh well...it's a cardinal field with white letters. Thanks for the picture, Mystic Cat!
