Hello Ladies!!
I am soooo sorry that I never was able to hook up with you guys this weekend! I went down to the Foundation booth (which of course had turned into a picture booth) at about 6:33, but perhaps you all had already moved to a picture location, as I couldn't find you! I kept asking all the groups of women if they were GC!
I just got home a half hour or so ago and haven't slept since Friday night (literally). After the banquet last night we just packed up and went on to return the rental car and hang in the airport till our 5:40 am flights. However, I am oddly alert....
Convention was of course fabulous. I went as the Chapter Advisor to Gamma Phi at East Tenn. State Univ. We had four collegians attend - one of whom was one of three Lortz Legacy Grant recipients to attend Convention. They all had a fantastic week and enjoyed meeting tons of sisters.
Your new Grand Council, which I will assume is safe to post since it is publicly shared knowledge anyway, is:
International President - Kathryn Peddy Goddard
International VP of Collegiate Membership - Claire Brown Gwaltney
International VP of Collegiate Membership - Anne Charnock - new
International VP of Finance - Tammie Pinkston - new (and from my chapter!)
International VP of Alumnae Membership - Lorraine Alderman Testa - new
International VP - Rosalyn Doze Williams - new
International Secretary - Paula Kendrick
My seating position for the business meetings was right behind Tammie Pinkston and right in front of Anne Charnock, so I was in a great place between new Grand Council officers! They are both so excited and will do a fabulous job, I'm sure. Lorraine and Rosalyn were on the other side of the room, and I didn't get a chance to speak with them.... We have a fabulous group of women to lead us into the next biennium!
There was of course other business that I shall not post, but if you have a question about one of the specific issues, pm me or email me and I'll fill you in.
Phoenix was great! I never got that whole "dry heat" thing. It was still hot! And hard to breathe!! The hotel was lovely and the food was out of this world. I've had lots of mass-produced food in my time, and this food blew everything away. By a longshot. The girls and I drove into Scottsdale to go shopping during the free afternoon. Lots of good sales!
There were lots of Diamond Four Point Chapters - I can't remember them all. So I can't answer Honeychile's question off the top of my head! I'll toot Gamma Phi's horn - we got Diamond Four Point, Achievement, and EXCELLENCE for the first time EVER!! We've had Achievement before, but we're moving on up the ladder! We got lots of other area-specific awards that I won't bore you with.
Two chapters earned the Maxine Blake Golden Lion Award for the first time - University of Kentucky and Clemson University. There were around 10 or so who received it - I can only remember a few: UK, Clemson, Alabama, Samford, Auburn, UT-Martin, Middle Tenn State, but I can't remember the others right now!!
Great time, great time. I missed seeing everyone, but for some reason I was soooooooooo busy. I don't think I saw the inside of my hotel room for more than sleeping and showering.
I will assume that listing election results (names, not numbers) isn't against protocol as these women interact publicly in these positions and were actually elected two days ago - so it's not like I'm letting any cats out of bags. However, if I am incorrect, mods feel free to amend my post as necessary....
Talk to you all soon! Think I'll take a nap now.
