I am attending full time and should be at everything. So, I'll definitely see ya at the Processional. (Although, I do not plan to participate, just watch.)

To all of you going to Convention:
Have a BLAST, shed a tear when you sing the sentimental songs, laugh when you sing the fast songs, and TAKE A PICTURE OF THE GC ADPIs. Sigh...wish i were going...

And I can't WAIT to meet you on Wednesday! I've already told Bri to tell you we have to find each other at the alumnae reception, if not hopefully the opening banquet

I hate packing especially when its for convention and vacation directly afterwards!!! I swear I'm cleaning out my whole closet between business attire and formal attire for convention and, beach attire and going out for my birthday attire in boston.

Anyways I'll be there as well from Wed - Sunday for the whole shebang. Looking forward to meeting new adpis and seeing old sisters!!

convention update

Wednesday:

Jennie, Leslie and I show up early to the hotel so we can register, but in someones logic the registration table was taken down (even though we showed up at 6 and it was supposed to be up until 6:45). After figuring out what to do (because I hadn't paid yet and Leslie was going to be our guest and Jennie didn't have her packet proving she paid) we got in line to meet Grand Council. It was pretty cool. Each one asked what chapter you were from and said they were glad you were there. Then it was time for dinner. IMPO, dinner was well not worth 75 bucks but I can't do anything about that.

Dinner carried over (supposed to end around 9pm), then districts had quick meetings and we all assembled to practice for the processional. Jennie was to carry the Eta Psi flag and I was just hanging around. In the end I ended up carrying the Epsilon Beta flag.

A quick side note, to all those who might go to the next convention I would say to watch the processional. I got to watch everyone after me, but my chapter (Delta Gamma) was before I got into the room.

Practice finally ended 11:45-12:00 Jennie and I get to leave, come home and crash.

Thursday:

Well we had to be at the resort by 7:30 so we were up and out by 6:30 (I had to get apples from the store for the children from the Mission that is our service project for convention and we needed coffe (well hot chocolate for me)). We got there at 7:10

We get our flags and get in line.

Processional starts and it was really cool (for me) talking to the collegians around me.

The processional was a lovely "service" (so to speak). Except for not being able to sing the international song (sorry don't know it and didn't have the lyrics) or O Canada (had the lyrics, don't know it though), it was beautiful.

We then headed outside for the picture. Oh yeah that was great fun in 100 degree heat. J/k I'm used to it. Just didn't like the sun in my eyes. I also kept wondering how the photographer was managing to get everyone in the shot.

Jennie and I then worked the registration table (once it was set up) until about noon and then headed out for lunch. We ended up at Walmart (I hadn't brought a change of clothes, business casual, so wanted to get a pair just in case) and had lunch at Subway.

Jennie then headed to the business meeting for voting delegates and I just hung around the resort. Hung out at the pool, went to a seminar about wellness and helped set things up for the Philanthropy dinner. I also chatted with Carrie (EXiADPi).

So that be all. Jennie is getting ready for today. Me going to take her and drop her off cause I don't have to be back until noon (we then are working giftmart from 1:30-3:30).

type more later about the day.

I think I know the answer to this already, but did Alpha Iota get Diamond Four Point? How about any of the other chapters represented here?

Hello Ladies!!

I am soooo sorry that I never was able to hook up with you guys this weekend! I went down to the Foundation booth (which of course had turned into a picture booth) at about 6:33, but perhaps you all had already moved to a picture location, as I couldn't find you! I kept asking all the groups of women if they were GC!

I just got home a half hour or so ago and haven't slept since Friday night (literally). After the banquet last night we just packed up and went on to return the rental car and hang in the airport till our 5:40 am flights. However, I am oddly alert....

Convention was of course fabulous. I went as the Chapter Advisor to Gamma Phi at East Tenn. State Univ. We had four collegians attend - one of whom was one of three Lortz Legacy Grant recipients to attend Convention. They all had a fantastic week and enjoyed meeting tons of sisters.

Your new Grand Council, which I will assume is safe to post since it is publicly shared knowledge anyway, is:

International President - Kathryn Peddy Goddard
International VP of Collegiate Membership - Claire Brown Gwaltney
International VP of Collegiate Membership - Anne Charnock - new
International VP of Finance - Tammie Pinkston - new (and from my chapter!)
International VP of Alumnae Membership - Lorraine Alderman Testa - new
International VP - Rosalyn Doze Williams - new
International Secretary - Paula Kendrick

My seating position for the business meetings was right behind Tammie Pinkston and right in front of Anne Charnock, so I was in a great place between new Grand Council officers! They are both so excited and will do a fabulous job, I'm sure. Lorraine and Rosalyn were on the other side of the room, and I didn't get a chance to speak with them.... We have a fabulous group of women to lead us into the next biennium!

There was of course other business that I shall not post, but if you have a question about one of the specific issues, pm me or email me and I'll fill you in.

Phoenix was great! I never got that whole "dry heat" thing. It was still hot! And hard to breathe!! The hotel was lovely and the food was out of this world. I've had lots of mass-produced food in my time, and this food blew everything away. By a longshot. The girls and I drove into Scottsdale to go shopping during the free afternoon. Lots of good sales!

There were lots of Diamond Four Point Chapters - I can't remember them all. So I can't answer Honeychile's question off the top of my head! I'll toot Gamma Phi's horn - we got Diamond Four Point, Achievement, and EXCELLENCE for the first time EVER!! We've had Achievement before, but we're moving on up the ladder! We got lots of other area-specific awards that I won't bore you with.

Two chapters earned the Maxine Blake Golden Lion Award for the first time - University of Kentucky and Clemson University. There were around 10 or so who received it - I can only remember a few: UK, Clemson, Alabama, Samford, Auburn, UT-Martin, Middle Tenn State, but I can't remember the others right now!!

Great time, great time. I missed seeing everyone, but for some reason I was soooooooooo busy. I don't think I saw the inside of my hotel room for more than sleeping and showering.

I will assume that listing election results (names, not numbers) isn't against protocol as these women interact publicly in these positions and were actually elected two days ago - so it's not like I'm letting any cats out of bags. However, if I am incorrect, mods feel free to amend my post as necessary....

Talk to you all soon! Think I'll take a nap now.

Beth - Sorry we missed you! We might have gotten to the booth a few minutes late, and then we were mingling around for a little bit - I tried to stay by the Foundation booth, and I was talking to the District 6 ACRD for a while. I don't know if you noticed dresses or something, but I was in a plum colored, glittered dress if that helps (after the fact )

I actually sat behind Rosalyn and Lorraine during the business meetings, and having worked with them in a *limited* capacity at DLC earlier this year, they are truly wonderful women and I'm so excited to have 2 District 6 members on Grand Council (just a *little* biased...)

I'll try to post more later - pictures will come soon. I need to finish the current role of film (which has all of last night's photos on it ) and then I'll try and get them on a disc which will make it easy to upload for you all to see!

L&L,
Jennie
