As for tonight's AI, I was completely and totally underwhelmed. Nikki's gone, unless some weird twist of fate intervened. I finally broke down and voted for Kelly an obscene number of times because I want her to win, darnitall! It took about 25 minutes to get through with any consistency on her number, and after 30 or minutes I got through every time.

Ryan Starr needs to drop that attitude if they're gonna keep putting her behind Simon. At least Jimbo acted appropriately out there, ya know?

Really, if Kelly doesn't win this whole thing then there's no justice in this world. Granted, Christina got booted off before RJ and Nikki. So i don't presume to know what the American voting public might do next.

I think Kelly is amazing. She has talent and she has a sweet look to her. In what order do you think everyone will be voted out? I think tonight it will be Nikki followed by RJ next week. Then if people are basing their voting decisions on performances I think Justin will be next to go and I have no idea who will win between Kelly and Tamarya! I'm hoping for Kelly.

Thank god! RJ is gone and I don't have to put up with him for another week!
Nikki didn't do good this week, but I think the style they had to sing really screwed her over.
Justin still annoys the HELL out of me... i'm scared he'll win though b/c of all the teeny bopper girls.
Tamyra's okay, but she just doesn't do it for me.
Kelly's the girl. She has such a girl-next-door thing going on and she's an enormous talent.
RJ will be in a boyband or a christian group before too long...

Hafta disagree. "A House is not a Home" is one of the best songs out there, and like Paula...I was almost moved to tears. She did an awesome job with that song--"making it her own".

It is gonna be a free for all come the final three.

Kelly's awesome, but I think she lacks the stage presence Justin and Tamyra have. Justin and Tamyra look so comfortable on stage...and Kelly doesn't.

I wasn't impressed AT ALL with this week's performance. I thought just about all of them turned in a week performance. This style did just not suit them at all (except RJ, who as much as i disliked him did well for him this week). The material is a little old for them. It's not something they related well too and obviously a few of them weren't all that comfortable with. This generation's exposure to Burt Baccarach is pretty much limited to Austin Powers. I just thought it was a poor choice on behalf of the planners of the show.

I wasn't really "wowed" by any of the performances tonight, but I thought that Kelly was great as usual. I guess Nikki or Justin will go tomorrow.

I thought tonight's performances were pretty good. I really thought Nikki's 2nd performance was her best yet but I still think/hope she'll go tomorrow.

He was ALL OVER that stage! I guess that his hit of crystal meth must have kicked in just before showtime!!!

I swear that his eyes were glazed over, and he was out of control!

Tonight was the second time I have watched the show... that said...

I know that some have viewed Justin as sheer teeny bopper sacharrine, but he does have a great stage presence and is rather adorable. And he covers ballads wonderfully.

Straight up Kelly has the most soulful voice. It's hard to put the face and voice together! She has the best voice, but may not possess that stage comfort and charisma like others maintain.

I hope these are the final two.

can someone give me a rundown on last night's episode, i had to miss it for an alumnae meeting? i can't stand the message board on fox for it, so i figured i'd get a more grown-up answer here

I know what you mean about the message boards on Fox.

I checked in once and I'm never going back!

Anyway, Jaded Journalist also does a recap on the Fox site and then there's alway's Television without Pity. Here's the recap according to me:

First was Tamyra singing "New Attitude." More personality than we've seen out of her before. Not her best singing but I guess she and Kelly had REALLY sore throats and could barely talk. Her second song was called "Feel the Fire." I actually missed that one because the dog had to go out.

Nikki sang "Mary Jane" and Melissa Etheridge's "I'm the Only One." She kicked ass last night, some of her best performances ever. The judges said she'd finally picked songs that really fit her and let her shine.

Kelly sang "It's Raining Men" and "I Surrender." The second song was amazing considering the girl could hardly talk. The first song I think she could have had more fun with... Really not her if you know you what I mean. I do love her though.

Justin did "Get Here if You Can" again. If you saw him do it the first time then you didn't miss anything tonight. His second song was "PYT" by Michael Jackson. It was less about him singing than about him proving he's quite the dancer.

In the end, all bets would have been on Nikki to go home tonite but she sang her heart out this time. That would mean Justin is gone but you can't discredit the teenage girl vote... Should be interesting.
