I was amazed at the feelings I still have about adopting-the fact that you are willingly and knowingly intervening in another person's life. It is something that is impossible to explain. Our daughter, in second grade, began to have sight problems, and we realized she was very nearsighted and needed glasses. This year, in third grade, I noticed her two front teeth were beginning to buck out-so we immediatly started orthodontic procedures, and she now has braces, and has had two baby teeth removed. (Our orthodontist said that it is a common problem in Asians that their lower jaw often outgrows their top jaw and can cause problems.) That said, she has been asked to model locally-so you can imagine how gorgeous she is!) Also, at the beginning of this year, we quickly saw problems in focusing on school work and she is now on a very small amount of medication for it. She went from B and C work to all A's. Her pediatrician said that if a child truly needs medication, you will quickly see a difference, and we did. I can't imagine what her life would be like just within these three parameters, obviously not counting all the love and wonderful environment she has here. There is NOTHING like deliberately changing a life!! We are in awe and blessed, and for those of you who were saying you are considering it in the future, you will realize that it may very well be one of your greatest life accomplishments!
