I have done my own highlighting before with no problem about 10 years ago too. I used a highlighting kit by Loreal (I can't think of the name but it came with two colors and a comb). Once I applied the color, I wrapped it in foil, so I'd know where it was and I just highlighted the crown of my head. They looked SO good.
Fast forward to this time last year. I purchased a highlighting kit by Revlon (DO NOT BUY THIS ONE - IT STRIPS YOUR HAIR COLOR FIRST AND THEN DEPOSITS THE COLOR - IT SUCKS ON ICE!!!!)
BIG MISTAKE. I ended up looking like Tony The Tiger - dark brown hair with orange strips (the color was susposed to be honey). I didn't go to work the next morning because I was at Walgreens looking for a rinse to cover up the mess.
So proceed with caution....
