We did kill an inmate just this morning.

We spared Terry Nichols (of OKC bombing fame) yet we still manage to put small-time killers to death.

It's a strange place.

 | Right, but I'm saying I think they started using lethal injection as a choice when Ole Sparky started going haywire. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

When did Alabama stop using the Big Yellow Mama?
When I visited the maximum security prison in Atmore, in 1996, they were still using it. I can't see a state like Alabama stopping it for no good reason.

I thought only Nebraska was still using the chair. Isn't Florida still debating the chair because of those botched executions? The pics were horrible.
I would take Firing Squad. You're never sure if you're gonna die immediately with a hanging, electrocutions burn, and here in Illinois, they can't seem to get the kinks out of lethal injection. I think Scott will probably be separated from the other inmates. At least at the beginning. Then we have to realize it's California, they take years and years to execute someone. Studies have shown you're more likely to die of natural causes while on death row in California than actual execution.

Apparently there is over 600 on Death Row in California, with close to 200 without lawyers for their appeals case. More likely Scott Petersen will die in prison of old age or at the hands of a prisoner. I feel sorry for the California taxpayers who have to pay to house and feed this murderer. I listened to Court TV and he had NO reaction during the victim's statements. There were pretty powerful and angry! Some jurors were glaring at him during the time that the judge was discussing the 120+ page motion to retry the case.

 | As a Californian taxpayer, I have no problem with paying for him to live in total fear for the rest of his natural life - like I said before, he's gonna be the pretty boy on the block... And inmates don't like child killers...

So yeah, I have no problem with forking over $ for that. (and for anyone else that's not in California that would like to pitch in, I'd be happy to let you share paying my taxes with me! haha)

I don't care that he dies. I just want it to be the most punishing form available so he can suffer one iota that Laci likely suffered. Bastard.

The death penalty is going to be reversed before he reaches the death chamber. Juveniles are already off the hook and it's just inevitable I'm afraid. He'lll have a life sentence regardless....
As for everyone's hope he'll get raped in prison, that will be highly unlikely considering he's on death row. They put these guys into one of 6 blocks with people they are psychologically "compatible" with. They shower alone, eat alone, and spend most of their days in their cells alone. The only time he will interact with his block of prisoners is during exercise time and if he decides to join a religious activity there.

Whether or not you think prison should be a place of torture and cruel punishment on top of everything else, he will suffer enough considering that will be his last home.

Is it mean of me to hope that his cell is wallpapered with baby nursery paper?

 | Honestly, he's so nuts, I wouldn't be surprised if something like that would have no effect on him.

He hasn't shown emotion or regret yet, what would make it start now?

   | He's going to break. It's just a matter of time. And when he does, it's not going to be pretty.

Condemned to death row, Scott Peterson still may never be executed
Just for argument's sake, consider that he is innocent, how many of you would feel bad to have condemned him based on his crime of adultery? I think he is innocent, and since there is no proof that he did actually kill her, I am shocked that so many can just believe that emotions are more important than justice. The same emotions played a role in the Boston strangler's death sentence and many others in the past. Everyone was so sure he was guilty, but that now looks very fishy. I don't know for sure what happened that tragic day Laci died, but but neither does anyone else so what's with all the joy in people's comments?

The Boston Strangler (I forget his name) admitted his guilt - even though DNA has since proven otherwise.
I have no joy in Scott being given the death penalty, even though it was inevitable. I did immediately pray for him - which doesn't mean that I like him, or any other liar.

Frankly, what I think happened was that there was most probably an argument, and he may have shoved her or whatever. Instead of calling 911, he disposed of her. In my eyes, the crime was more for not seeking help for Laci & Connor, and trying to cover up the situation. Had he called 911, none of this would have happened in quite the spectacular fashion.
