What is it with soon-to-be-alums (not just DGs) selling their badges? This is like the 3rd or 4th one I've run across lately.

I saw that listing on ebay and am a little saddened.
Why would you sell your badge just to go on a trip after graduation? I can understand selling your tshirts or other sorority items, but your badge? Seems so wrong to me.
Bekibug: Maybe they're selling them because their organization and what their badge stands for does not mean as much to them as it does to other members? Who knows.

Not that this makes it any better, but maybe she has terminated her membership and instead of returning her badge to EO, she decided to make some money by selling a piece of "jewelry". It's still sad though.

 | I served on honor board for 2 terms, and whenever a girl resigned, we made her turn in her badge and membership certificate to HB, and we always returned those things to EO. Maybe she just wants to sell her badge?

That's why I was confused--we make a girl turn in her Quill to the chapter then it's turned over to HQ. One of the first things we're taught about our Quills is how to properly handle them, like no selling and what not. Granted, this girl is active (assumedly)collegiate-about-to-turn-alum, but she still ought to know what to do/not do with a badge. I mean, our national website put up the article from the Kappa magazine a few years ago that dealt with the Keepers of the Keys and all, so I figured by now the NPC orgs would have gotten the word across to their members.

The ebay listing now reads "I resigned my membership from this organization 4 years ago." I have a hard time believing this. She has an awful lot of dangles for someone who resigned her Freshman year.

She never e-mailed me back. Marie, I agree though, it does seem odd that she had those dangles as a Freshman.

Guess what EO does when a pin is returned? Sell them. True. They're sold at Convention & OTS as used badges. No bargains - prices are almost as high as new. Personally, I enjoy seeing them come up on eBay, although the backstory may be sad. Usually it's from somebody who bought it at an estate or yard sale, and that's pretty sad too - but at least on eBay it generally goes to a member or collector who realizes its intrinsic significance and appreciates it.

not one of your anchors, but interesting nonetheless

			Hi ladies!
I saw *this* on ebay earlier today. It is not one of your anchors, but instead it apears to be a lapel pin with the Gamma superimposed on the Delta. It's really cute. I don't know if this is something from an older DG who maybe just had it made, or maybe there is a "Gamma Delta" organization somewhere?

there is another badge on ebay, i contacted EO about and hopefully they will do something about it. The person who has the highest bid has bought 5 or 6 diffrent sorority badges recently, i'm not sure what she is going to do with them... maybe she was cut and is still bitter? who knows!

			Delta Gamma Badge on Ebay
I think the current holder doesn't know squat about Greek life since he/she has the letters all screwed up.
Here's another one

 | This listing is gone now, but I bought a pin that sounds similar to what you described. One of the EO staff told me that while it might be a pin that an older DG had made, they also believe there was a scholastic honorary Gamma Delta that it might have come from. I stilll love to wear it.
