I absolutely loved tonight's episode. Ever since I found out they were here, which was about a month ago, I was dying to see the eppy. Heck if I didn't have to work I would have gone over to Mesa/Gilbert where the house was being built and tried to volunteer. This family was so incredibly deserving, now I just need to find that bead store so that I can buy Kassandra's necklaces. I would also love to buy that book that Preston wrote for her. I cried quite a few times during the two hours the show was on.

Oh someone asked about paying for the homes. I believe (and don't quote me) that the couples usually have to pay for the mortgage (if I heard Ty say correctly this house was the biggest one they have done to date). The family's have to sign a contract saying they will live in the house for like two years (so they don't get the makeover and then just up and sell it). I cried when Taylor Woodrow (was that the name?) came in and said they would pay for the mortgage.

I think I'm just so emotional because it is a family here in Arizona and the Arizona Republic was reporting about this house being done the week they were here (which makes me wonder how the heck it was kept a secret from the family who was only down in Tucson). I'm probably also emotional because Kassandra and her family were probably visitors at the RMH down in Tucson, which being that is our philanthropy holds a special place in my heart, but I've done volunteer stuff for that RMH when I was in school in Tucson.

I'm such a emotional dork.

I am the biggest wimp whenever I get sick. To see this 8 year old go through so much and still keep a smile, who gives of herself just so others won't have to suffer as much...it definitely gives hope to us all.

Love comes first!

To those who missed the first season and episodes from this season, ABC Family will be airing an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition MARATHON this Sunday. Don't miss it!

What a fantastic episode.

One question--since they didn't request their own home being done, and weren't prepared for the tax effects, did they do anything other than paying the mortgage (which was nice, of course!)

The financial implications on this one scares me, and I'm hoping I missed something during the shows.

If I remember correctly, from what I read in the paper, the company will pay their taxes for like a year, which gives the family enough time to get settled and then start to save up. Now I'm not sure how the whole taxes work, since I don't own my home yet.

Okay I just read the article that was in yesterdays AZ Republic about the family, the construction began 2/6 and on 2/11 the family got to see their new home. I would suggest azcentral.com and do a search for articles but you have to pay to read them, which I'm cheap and refuse to do.

But here is a link to one article I found from a competition newspaper in the valley:

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/?sty=36158

here's another one

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=37949

and here's one more with a bit more information on the home builder and the family

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050210/flth031_1.html

(FYI to my sisters out there, mom did stay at RMH. Talk about really holding this family to a special place in my heart)

Extreme Home Makeover is in Kansas City doing a show. It should air in May, but here is the background of the family

http://www.thekansascitychannel.com/...13/detail.html

The location has been packed with people, they are now setting up shuttle buses to take people to and from the house. People are now suppose to park at Arrowhead Stadium and the Metro (public trans bus system) will take people too and from. I think some friends and I are going over tonight to look. Apparently it is incredible to watch in person.

Anyway -- you know how they do awesome bedrooms that incoprorate all the things the kids like. Well one of the boys in this family wants to be a forensic scientist. My company manufacturers laboratory equipment. The show contacted the company and asked if we could help. My company is giving them all the equipment they need to outfit a lab for the kid---and some of my coworkers are going to the house tomorrow (i think) to install the equipment for them!

are the families really surprised when the bus shows up on their driveway? it just seems that the family knows beforehand that the crew is comming to redo the house. i see them with nice clothes with hair and make-up early in the morning.

Watching that wedding video just now almost did me in. Last night I wasn't feeling well and was complaining, but here is a woman who was dying but was very full of life.

I absolutely love this show.

Those little boys are the absolute cutest kids.

I have not ever cried this much during an episode of this show.

This show is so heartwarming.

I got to see the first hour, then switched to the Survivor finale. The wedding video did me in also. I saw a small part with the one room with the shooting star. I already know that I am going to need Kleenex when I watch it tomorrow.

Did anyone else recognize whose house they are doing next? It is the first female killed in action and also good friends with the female POW. As soon as I saw Jessica Lynch (If I remembered that right) I was just floored. I can't wait to watch next week's. I am sure I will need the Kleenex again.

They are going to make over the house of oen of the POW's killed in the ambush attack. Oh lord, I had her name, and It left my mind completely. Lori I think her name is, I'm pretty sure her last name starts with a P. I think her family still lives on the Indian Reservation, and its close to my city.
