My fam. knew how to teach me right from wrong and not allow the TV and radio to do that for them. I'm not jacking up my groove to "protect the youth" of parents who just don't bother to do their jobs.
I agree.

I teach 9th grade and I am there are the front line. I am going to be honest its rare to find a kid who doesn't like the song, but there are two types kids, those who believe this is an actual way of life and those who don't. Trust me the kids who have parents who have raised them to enjoy life but be able to think fot themselves are obvious. Life should not be censored or edited for children who don't have the luxury of having educated or "good" parents. That in itself is an injustice, what needs to happen is that there needs to be some uproar on education and not music. We all know knowledge is power, and that means the power to know that the "Whisper Song" is just that a song.

I am reminded of 5th Ward Boyz/Geto Boys - does anyone remember their songs?

I can't bring myself to post lyrics (or even links to lyrics) but I will say that one of the 5th Ward Boyz albums is "Usual Suspects." If you look up lyrics for that album (see the song "PSA"), it is really shocking.

ETA: In the time between my first post and this one, I dropped off a bit from the thread. When I came back, I finally looked up the lyrics I had been thinking about...thus, the gap. LOL!

You must mean PWA. That song jams in the club, too.

What are you talking about? This is the music I listened to when I was younger and I just looked up the lyrics again and was kinda surprised at how graphic they are. When I think of "Wait" it reminds me of those older songs.

What, pray tell, am I to get over?

Go to the "Hey, lil' mama link" and click.

This is a HYSTERICAL commentary by novelist Monica Jackson about the Diseased Twins and Wait. She posts the lyrics, so I can't post this on GC.

I love this line:

"It must be the Last Days for sure if only people are buying some stupid atonal s*** from some ignorant s******** like the following lyrics attest."
I just went back and read up on some posts I had missed. So, I checked out this blog...ROFL!!

From that "Hey, lil' mama" post, I thought this was HILARIOUS:

Quote:
I WILL take a self-revealing risk: If you’d ever had a dude tell you “naw, just playin…” after promising to “beat up” your p****, or the equivalent, I guarantee you wouldn’t find it defensible, with or without the “b****.” [my censoring]
