I joined my chapter when it was a colony, and everyone, even the "old girls" (the original members who had accepted bids the previous year) was a pledge. However, the girls who joined the first year got to initiate first and were counted as founders, and the rest of us, who joined during the first formal rush, initiated about a month later.
