Even if the majority of greeks don't do coke, it sure sounds like a good number do. It seems that until someone gets hurt and it makes big news, campuses and greek systems will turn a blind eye, especially at a traditional party school.

And it seems that members of greek life at WVU don't seem to want to change it, either. We're not talking about underage drinking or smoking a little weed here.... we're talking hard core drug use...
I agree with people turning a blind eye to the drug problems here at WVU, but I think the reason a lot of people do is because they wouldn't know where to begin. Several times each semester we have presenters come in to talk about common issues that greeks and non-greeks face in college like drug usage, alcohol poisoning, promiscuity, stuff like that. And while everyone listens, I don't think it hits home. It pretty much has the same effect it had on everyone back in high school during drug assemblies: if you don't do it already, you still won't, and if you do drugs, you continue.
If one of my close friends did coke, I would definitely try to talk to them about it and encourage them to get help, but other than that, I would probably let it be. The last thing I want is for one of my friends to hurt themselves, but ultimately I can't control their actions. They know what they're doing is wrong, it's up to them to stop.
I don't think this should portray a negative view on WVU's greek system. Being a part of it, it's definitely the best experience I've had in college and I know many people who would say the same. I'm sure cocaine and other heavy drug usage is very prominent in some chapters here, and not so prominent or even non-existent in others. I don't think the students here that aren't greek view us all as coked up.
