In a psychological sense, a 'fetish' is a stimulus outside of the normal sexual experience without which you are incapable of sexual response. In the common usage Rudey is relying upon, it's better defined as "stuff you have an irrational desire to bone" -

So Rudey's "leather fetish" is more likely a "leather preference" while his furry action is most certainly a psychological fetish. This is what happens when you move around as a kid.
