Me too! I choose the cheap method of shipping, meaning everything will wait, but BN sends it seperately anyway. I like them very much, but that also may be because I'm in one of those zip codes where if you order something by like 10am, its same day deliverly. I love the NYC Metro area

Buy.com set me a notice that they are selling the new HP for 16.19. They are not offering free shipping, so those who plan to pay for shipping can get the book a bit cheaper.

countdown to july 16th....the summer book five came out i went home to my parents for the weekend so that i could ignore school altogether and made my brother drive me to the bookstore so i could start reading in the car...i got my entire family addicted to harry potter including my great-aunts and uncles who thought i was crazy for reading the same books their ten year old grandchildren were...

I thought the UK version was really cool too.

Sorry so large. But I wonder why there is a UK Child Version and a UK Adult version.

I like the UK version sooooooooooo much better. I hope that's the one they use in Canada.

I will be buying both versions: The US and this version above...I think this is the kids version

although I have noticed that the text is pretty much the same. The earlier books had different language for some of the words, for example: sweater instead of jumper…..that sort of thing. And the US version has illustrations at the beginning of each chapter, the UK versions do not.

I just pre-ordered my copy of the UK version (children's cover) this morning, and can't wait to receive it in July!! Then I'll get my American version when I go visit family for Christmas.

The UK version is different to the US version, I have both sets and the UK books use British slang, whereas the US do not. I think it's just an aesthetics issue that they produce both an "adult" and "children's" cover in the UK, the books don't actually differ (from what I've been told).

Okay the difference in language and slang is important to me... after-all the stories are taking place in the UK, so the character of the story should reflect that (slang, expressions, and such)... I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the language of a story so for me it's the UK english (well thats all we really get up here anyways

).

As for the different covers - Canada does it too; and purely as a marketing tool. Some people like the stories but don't wan't to be seen reading a "children's" book - so you sell it to them by having a more serious or "adult" cover. So for example:

Children's Edition/Cover

Adult's Edition/Cover

The adult's definitely appears more "sophisitcated" or "serious" - which again will appeal to those who don't want to appear to be reading a "children's" book.

I have both the UK and US versions of OotP and as far as I can remember...the slang (thank you that word escaped me earlier) is pretty much the same.

I will be reading the entire series again soon in anticipation for July 16 and I will be more self-aware of the slang differences.

I will be ordering the UK version tonight also.

As I understand it the first two books are the ones with the language "differences"... because they were released in the US before Rowling "broke big". The later books she was able to exercise more control over publishing... and there was more of demand from the US market for the "original" UK printed books...

I'd be interested to know if there was how much if any difference in the OoP in the US & UK published editions...
