My city isn't huge or anything-somewhere near 500,000 people I think, but it does have enough crime to set my paranoia off kilter I think!
Even when I lived at home with my parents or in the dorm with a roommate I've always locked the doors-especially before I go to sleep. Now that I live alone I still shut & lock my the door to my bedroom before I go to sleep at night. Most of the time I get up after trying to sleep to make sure my front door & patio door are still locked.
