From my understanding, Ivy Acres is a project supported by members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, incorporated for the community and expands on retirement planning education to help persons make informed choices about savings and retirement planning.
The main premise of EAF is life long learning AND because it the 501c3 foundation of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. some of the funds are also incorporated into large capital campaigns such as Ivy Acres. Most of the EAF funds actually are contributed by chapters and members and some members who "earmark" their funds upon becoming ivies beyond the wall.

I asked because I have a keen interest in A/A who are/have been/trying to be successful in non-traditional businesses. When I attended the Alpha's Convention last year, entities such as Church's Chicken, Taco Bell, and companies like Delphi (who contract A/A women/minorities for parts and services) were "marketing" themselves to potential clients. So I wondered if established organizations such as yourselves were considering expanding the organization into the private/public sectors such as those.
Typically, these "contracts" are "partnerships" with large commercial organizations, of which many of my Sorors sit on their board of trustees. As such, a proposal is submitted for the directorate to review at one of their quarterly meetings and a program is implemented and designed to be incorporated the fit within the International Targets of my Sorority.

Of our major supporters that I know of are DaimlerChrysler, Pillsbury, Points of Light Foundation, National Board of Transportation and Safety, and Department of Education under "Leave No Child Behind" along with the Metropolitan Education Book Publishing Company. Most of these companies either had proposals sent to them or proposals sent to the Directorate and MOU's were drawn up and a partnership was established.

I have to brag about my Far Western Regional Sorors at the Regional Conference 2004! Because they asked Niketown to help sponsor some activities for the conference and it was very nice in Oregon... And numerous other chapters have "partnership agreements" within my Sorority. My former graduate chapter has a close arrangement with Solar Turbines, a Catepillar Company because one of my Sorors is an executive member of that company. Another one of my sorors of my current chapter is the Executive V.P. of Community Affairs with Washington Mutual. However, in order for corporations to work with us, the chapters must have their own non profit status which is difficult to get now due to Homeland Security issues, such as the Carbanes-Oxley Act...
