SORORS on Trading Spaces on 1.8.05
I know the AKA forum has a Trading Spaces thread but this one is pretty special. I am having movie night tomorrow with 2 sorors but we will be taking a break to support the sorors.
Hi sorors. As some of you may already know, Lia Hackerson (2-HK-98) and I are going to be on the TLC show Trading Spaces this Saturday, Jan 8th at 9pm EST.
April Hanks (1-HK-97)

Good episode. Though it was plagued with problems, all turned out well. If more people take control and object with Hildi, some rooms won't come out so... Hildi-like. I love most of Hildi's designs, even the crazy ones, but some stuff is just too "cutting edge" for me.
I'm mad that Laurie's team had on matching outfits. Reminds me of middle school dances...

I thought it was a good epi too....I'm glad they stood up to Hildi. I was cracking my side because Hildi had such an attitude when they stood up to her. I was mad that they were over $100.00 under budget though.
Abaici....did you hear one of the girls say something like "Yeah, just like Manley..." during the reveal? I was like Go Spelman!! LOL

You could tell that Hildi was not happy. When they were watching the reaction she said "It wasn't my room." Then she kep trying to justify the white corrugated roofing for the wall saying"she (April) would have liked it, too." And that it will appear in someone else's home. She sounded like a spoiled brat. But you know that's what happens when you go up against strong Black women.
ETA: There were no elephants in either of the living rooms?????

Both rooms turned out good. Hildi and Laurie are my two favorite designers on Trading Spaces. But Hildi gets on my nerves when she gets an attitude when people don't like her cutting edge design (I loved the tile floor on the ceiling idea). She just didn't want to admit that the paint was a better idea than corrugated PVC pipe....

I finally just watched it. The sorors were the ones who got the orange living room.
Yeah I would have vetoed aluminum siding IN my house too. Hildi got stankadank with her attitude.
That other living room was HOT!!! I just wanted them to move the shelves to be more flush with the wall. I loved the color and the sheers.
I am glad ORANGE LIVING ROOM CREATORS stepped up to Hildi on their friend's behalf.

oh okay, I thought a soror owned each house. So the sorors were the 'blue team?"
I agree about the book case (and the whole room.) I think, at least I hope, it wasn't flush because the paint wasn't completely dry.

April (BLUE team) owned the house. Lea (Blue team) helped her work on the house for April's neighbor, the long haired one on the red team. I believe her name was Valerie.
Oh yeah I forgot about the paint part.
Umm but yeah not a stitch of nothing Delta related. I figured since she had told us about the show, I would at least see a Delta shirt or elephant or artwork. Oh well, c'est la vie.

I'm mad they surprised April (head wrap and all)!
The little one on the Blue team (April) owned a house, and the Lia was the "helper" on the Red team.
I'm also laughing at them saying at the beginning that they were going to stand up to the designer if need be. LOL!!
Is it me, or did they do a WHOLE lot of screaming. LOL!!!

Unfortunately it was not a Spelman shout out. I think she said "Me and Lia" Oh well, I still got a kick out of watching it. Like CT4 and Ladygreek, I was scanning the backgound for Delta or Spelman related stuff. I didn't see anything either,

i watched it. i think that april got cheated, by no fault of her neighbors. hildi KNOW she's wrong for wanting to put floor tile on the ceiling, cracked glass on the bar AND siding on the walls. that's waaaay too much for ONE room!! and then to be stank about it?!?! that emm effa crazy. there really wasn't much added to room except paint and a sconce. the neighbor's room turned out good. i loved that paint color. laurie is my second fav. next to vern, even though he doesn't do the show anymore.
both april and her neighbor have nice homes. i love seeing young home owners.

I MISS VERN!!!
I felt April got cheated too. The Red team even said that they felt they cheated her because they didn't do any carpentry. I was like all she got was some paint and broken glass.
They really made me put my new years resolution into gear and start saving for a down payment on a house.
