Some of you may have already known this...
I just found out that the guy who plays the preacher (that bunnny had to explain Amsterdamn to and Cutty got help from) is the REAL LIFE Stringer Bell. Supposedly, he and the writer (the REAL LIFE McNulty) are friends now, even though they were enemies. I heard they even have lunch together and discuss ideas for the series. You may be thinking "That guy is old", but the WIRE storyline is based on what happened in the 80's. They just changed it to make it seem as if it occurs in the present.
So even though Stringer dies in the series, he is alive in reality.
That's strange, because the preacher doesn't look like he was tough enough to be a NUMBER 2 guy in the game. Still, Stringer was never really all that hard anyway. He was a businessman. Plus, you can't tell how hard someone is by their look or demeanor. Look at Marlo, he doesn't look tough either, but he runs a cold crew and he is extremely street smart for his age.
I also heard that Season Four will focus more on Marlo and his crew. They will be a rival crew who will try to take over and force Marlo out. I am not sure how the detail will be set up and who will be on it. Again, McNulty was the sole reason why each WIRE was up, but he walks the beat. It will be intersting to see who will take his place, if he is no longer involved. My guess would be Bunk, since he catches a lot of the murders.

Can't Wait!!!
Between keeping up with my Fanasty Football players, Flav of Love and my favorite HBO series "The Wire" starting back today, I have to admit that I will truly be an unproductive member of society for the next 12 hours....its all about the television today!!!!

Stringer Bell, Weebay and Cutty... mmm... MANwich!!!
anyway, the season premier was EFFING BRILLIANT!!! i L-O-V-E the parallel between the police force and the teachers. it was soooo in sync.
i laughed my azz off at ol' boy busting the balloon on himself.
every time i looked at the kid with the green stripe shirt, my heart hurt because i've had students like that and it is so real that it is too real.
i LOVE this show!

Ok I've just started watching the wire. BTW....Stringer is my baby-daddy. I dont understand how could they have killed him off. **dabs the tears from my eyes*
My FAV-O-RITE is 'Proposition Joe'. He is ridiculous. He'll be dead in about 5 minutes.
Can someone please answer these questions.
Does this take place in New York?
Is the current mayor crooked?
Is Marlo like the current man in charge? (Hes so young)
What is up with this wiretap? Is it legal, who are they trying to catch?
(strange that this thread didnt come up in my search)

It takes place in Baltimore, but several of the actors are from the New York area.
The current mayor could probably be characterized as crooked although he likes to say "I don't wanna know" whenever someone wants to talk about dirty dealings. I think he used to be for the people, but the power and access to money has gone to his head and he is far from what he started to be.
Marlo is the current kingpin on the Westside of Baltimore and yep, he's young.
Yeah, wiretaps are legal. You have to get a court order for them. This season they were trying to catch Marlo and I think they were still supposed to be looking for Kintell Williams (who they never show), but something stopped them.

I think that they are setting up for Mr. Prez to adopt Doukie....especially after seeing the previews for next week. Did you notice how he is getting close to Doukie?
