Again - single-season or decade-long? For single-season, well i was going with Nomar and Helton at .377 but that was in 2000, so . . . how about Tony Gwynn at .374 or whatever he hit the season he was over .400 in august? And overall i'll go with Tony Gwynn, who has the highest overall active lifetime average.
Those are good questions - i'm bad at those sort of "in this decade . . . " when it comes to more modern times. Haha - i might actually be better in the '30s or '20s catagories!

Damn dude, I meant ty cobb on the .367, what the hell was I thinking? THe etam with the worst record in the 90's was actually the tigers. And right on about gwynn, he ended up with a .394 batting average that year.
