In my APO chapter each pledge makes a little paddle that we use to get signatures on (pledge and active), and it's a nice memento.

Graduating seniors are presented with a regular size paddle at the banquet at the end of each semester. No hazing there.

Thats such a cute idea! I really wish that my sorority could do that but were not allowed to do paddles But what I think i might do is go get someone to cut a teddy bear out of wood and then have all the girls sign it for the seniors and give it to them. I think it might be a nice send off gift : ) THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!

Ours are shaped like keys, therefore they're much more like a plaque (like we use them for) rather than a real paddle.

The one I made for my big (my key sis) is painted a pretty shade of light blue with our crest, our letters, our names and little wooden keys on it (all painted silver and gold). Elegant key paddle for an elegant kappa.
Several GLO's have followed suit with Kappa. Every chapter on my campus uses different shapes:

Sigma=sailboats

Alpha Phi= teddy bears or ivy leaves
Chi Omega= owls
Alpha Xi Delta=teddy bears
Delta Zeta=turtles
Delta Gamma= anchors or Hannah's

Our local Greek shops orders them especially for us.

My Kappa Phi chapter does still give traditional paddles for bigs/littles.

On my campus, everyone still uses paddles. The little makes the big a paddle, and the big makes the little a pillow. Instead of pillows, Kappa does keys. The big makes the little a key instead of a pillow.

We changed our paddle shape as well. My class was the first one told to make "kite plaques" instead of paddles. Honestly, I like them better.
