The best advice that
I can offer is that she got all the answers that she needed when she spoke to the local grad chapter. Those are the people that she needs to stay in constant contact with, since they are the ONLY people that can help her current situation.
One other thing-- So what if it takes "months or years." Isn't it worth waiting for if she
really wants it? Just wondering....
