How did your toenails get discolored. Sometimes my big toe kind of hurts when I skate, and my mom told me to be careful b/c it may turn black. Do you know why this happens?

The constant rubbing of the shoe against the nail for years causes damage. Also poor circulation can cause nail discoloration.
