I know of a few people who also received their ipods as a result of this, and I'd try it, but it seems like too much work. I doubt that my friends will jump at the chance to help me out unless they get something back...quick.

You click on the link and it takes you to the free ipod website. Then you register (I clicked on the thing that keeps you from getting junk mail from them...haven't gotten a single junk email yet). Then you have to participate in a trial offer of something. I did the Blockbuster Home Delivery thing (like Netflix) which is a free two week trial. Then after you sign up for the promo, you just email your free ipods link to a bunch of your friends and if you can get just 5 people to sign up and complete their offer, you get a free ipod of your choosing in the mail.
I personally know people who have received their ipod in the mail already. Even though I know people who got theirs, I also researched it myself and found that this truly is legitimate and has been endorsed by different computer mags and CNN tech report, etc.

yeah, I'm with you all-if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Checking them out online at the staples site-they're close to $250-so to get it free-yeah-probably not
