Oh... so kind of like a quincenera? Is the whole point that the debutante is an adult now?

I guess...it used to mark a young lady's "presentation" to adult society. Now I think it's more of a tradition than anything else. There are some earlier posts in this thread that explain debutantes really well. I wasn't one, so I can't really explain it. But my roommate my freshman year at Georgia was a debutante. I was like "People still do this?" when she told me. She didn't think it was a big deal at all. But her dad was a doctor in North Carolina and I was just a middle class Yankee, so what did I know!

Well I do agree that PTC probably helped the rest of the county get better restuarants, and I did enjoy a few nights at Hanger 74 or whatever over the break...I think FC people have a point in saying it is getting bad. The yankee problem really isn't bad anywhere but PTC, but I used to like it more when it was a country club/southern planned community. I think most people in fayette would say the problem is obviously coming from Clayton. People are moving in great numbers from Riverdale and the like, after basically having destroyed that entire county. Crime and traffic are up in the entire county, and it directly coincides with with the influx from above. A friend's mother saw someone at the pavilion wearing a shirt which read "we took clayton, now we're takin fayette." Looks like I'm moving.

That thing makes me sick to my stomach. Can people actually finish an entire on in a sitting, or is it like those ridiculously big meals (steak, hamburger, burrito, etc) that you get free for eating one?

Heck, there are guys who can eat two.

Trust me, it's really good after you've been drinking all night. It looks disgusting but it is sooooooooo awesome.

What are you talking about?

After drinking you eat a burrito as big as your head. If that's not available, then you look for a grease burger. If you want exotic you might get a gyro. And to be on the safe side, a gigantic slice of pizza will do. You never go looking for what looks like leftovers and kitchen garbage in between 2 pieces of bread. And don't argue, you know that's what it looks like.

No, we're better than you.

I bought my daughter a neat coffee table book called Debutantes. I am not sure about the author but I bought it on Amazon if you are interested in those kind of things. Great pics of Jackie O, Gloria Vanderbilt, one of the Nixon girls, and all kinds of New York society.

Actually, it is spelled elephant. And, obviously you have been born without the ability to detect when a username is meant to be sarcastic. I don't think there is a poster here who doesn't know what an elephant (<---see there, I spelled it right -- AGAIN) walk is.
You are making yourself look like an ass by thinking you are so "above" everyone that you have to explain it to us poor, stupid GC posters. Thanks, though. It gives me more to laugh at on here.

Considering that definition of elephant walk was copied and pasted directly from urbandictionary.com, I doubt that stoopid troll #459,228 even knew what it meant before he/she looked it up and raced back to GC to share her new knowledge.

I can't believe her first instinct was to look to urbandictionary. I would have just assumed that I was a DST or something if I didn't know the slang for it.
