lyrica, I think you're going to be terrific!! Please keep us informed as to when you'll be running and all! I have such wonderful memories of Panhel, and I hope you'll have them, too!

I admit that I'm a bit surprised that the guard can't hold a Panhellenic Office, though! Maybe it's different from campus to campus, because I know of one woman who was both President of her chapter and External VP of Panhel - at the same time! How she got any classwork done, I will never know!!

ok, thats so funny, because i talk to jennifer everyday! since she's housing corp pres and im property manager, we always have something to tell/ask each other. ive talked to her some about this, and she's been nothing but encouraging, and even talked to the current npc pres about me.

oh and yes elizabeth was npc pres.

oh and a btw, im planning on running for one of the smaller exec positions in npc in hopes of getting the hang of it and running for recruitment later, cause i really want to do it and all the reasons i listed earlier in response to honey.
Good! Jennifer is a great woman! She is definately one to lift up and encourage sisters to get involved panhellenically. And I'm glad I was correct about Elizabeth. Sometimes I wonder if the years aren't slipping away and my memory with them.

As for you taking a lighter office, I think that is a great idea! It will help you get your feet wet, help you better determine what office will be best suited to your strengths and help you better determine how time and grades will fit into everything. Why not be a pride leader, or Chaplain (Oh I think that one is a great idea) or Spirit, or one of the smaller ADPi offices as well. I think it would give you a good idea of how the juggle will be if you try to do two big offices at the same time...just on a grander scale.

Good Luck Katy!! Let me know how things turn out!! I'm always so proud of my Eagle Sisters!!

from my resources, aka the bylaws, i know the following positions are not allowed to be rho gammas, so i'm guessing that maybe that means you cant hold a npc office (we only have exec) and hold these in adpi:
president
EVP
RVP
NMC
RIM
guard
treasurer
director of standards
formal recruitment chair
I don't think the rule is the same about NPC offices, but I think it is a good idea of what offices you might not want to run for.

i think guard is included because she's in charge of ritual, and of keeping people in line, both of which are very much needed during reruitment week.
and remember, those are women that cant be rho gammas, AND that our panhellenic officers disaffiliate as well, so anyone who is vital to recruitment cant be either.

alas, a non-christian chaplain would be kind of weird, and smaller offices are usually given to new initiates. im just worried they're gonna try to sucker me into property manager again

Akron does it once again!! haha The Guard of BT was a Rho Gamma this fall-- but by choice, she is not an exec member on PHC!! But I guess when you have a smalll greek system and you are one of the bigger chapters-- more people have to step up to be Rho Gam's! ADPi had six this year including the ADPi (first 4 volunteered) Guard, MEVP, Social Chair, and Intramurals Chair...and the other two were required because they are Panhellenic Council 1st Vice President and 2nd Vice President.
