I think it's more common than we realize. Especially with not-so-successful guys (who are often the sweet ones, having not been burned so often.) They don't know how to communicate that they like you..... so they just SAY, "You know what? I like you."
Girls don't do that as much though. At least I don't. But, then I really only sleep with other girls' boyfriends so what do I know.
