Cleveland State<Fenn College

I was pleased to read the article wriiten by a frater from Delta
Epsilon chapter.
Fenn College, it used to be, was a quasi day/night school in
Cleveland, close to the International Harvester dealer in a not so
good neighborhood. The TKE chapter was an interesting bunch,
of all ages, coming and going, in a small wood frame house amid
the chain link IH fence. They dated girls from all over town some in college, some not. It was not the collegiate atmosphere of a
Wabash or Furman, but there was some kind of spark that TKE
instilled. Out of this school came Bill Quallich, destined to become
Grand Prytanis.
As a fielder I loved this non-pretentious group and they were of
a quality we wanted. And old Dean Anders, a Knox Teke, who was their adviser, watched over them somewhat. I recall they
lined me up with a darling girl, drove clear 'cross town to get her,
went to TKE party..had a wonderful time.
There were day school locals, night school locals, and TKE at the
time, other NICs came later. Truly unique...at least for me, a
Kansas kid out of water...I just loved that chapter!
Could never put my finger on what made them tick, in an aura
not particularly collegiate, not particularly blue collar, but one of
substance. It was to become Cleveland State and we really got
a head start here.
Good to hear good things like this, it is just one of those things which has made my TKE membership so memorable.
