Oh man, when I was a frosh, that was the first thing I learned...you could feel it in the air that the whole campus was getting antsy on thursday afternoon.

Here in Nebraska, all the chapters have either "froshes" or "sophs" on thursdays. Basically the appropriate pledge class from a fraternity and a sorority (either freshman or sophomore) get together and party. Froshes are usually every week, and always involve some sort of sober activity before hand. Sophs are usually just drinking and much more low key.

Hell our pledges are expressly forbidden from drinking only from noon sunday to 5pm on thursday, just so that they can have a good time on thursday nights.

That said, most people are responsible when they have papers or tests due on friday. Last week was the first round of midterms, and I couldnt' get anyone to go out on Thursday night. My friends that are bartenders were amazed how dead everything was last week too.

Now that I'm 21 and I don't have anything to do on Thursday mornings until 11 (when I volunteer at the hospital and can be hung over) Wednesday is my new thursday night.
