In college, our "weekend" always started with ladies night on Wednesday's. By the time you were at school for a semester, your realized this and planned your classes to begin later in the day the next day. A lot of students also preferred going to classes longer on Tues & Thurs as opposed to the 3 day per week M-W-F schedule so they could have the 3 day weekend.
Now that I am a "grown-up" I occasionally will go out on a Thursday night because Friday's I try to plan my schedule pretty lightly at work.
