Imagine the reaction of the Democratic party if Cobb got 20% or something of that nature. You'd see a HUGE shift overnight -- either that, or the Green party would start to emerge as a national contender.

At any rate, if folks on the left don't want the Democrats to become Junior Republicans, that's really your only option.

Look at what Kerry has had to do in order to become your candidate. He was once one of the most liberal senators in Washington, now, he has moved so far to the senator that his current positions don't even vaguely resemble his positions before the primaries were decided.

And it's not like he's going to win the election anyway
