Alum Chapter

HI There,

There are a few of us working to get an alum chapter up and running for our area. I'm just curious as to how much contact is there between alum chapters and collegiate chapters. Do the alum chapters host various events for the collegiates?

LIOB,
Carolyn

The Baltimore Alum chapter doesn't host events for local chapters; however, we do invite the graduating seniors to our final meeting in May and send them gifts throughout the year. There are 6 or 7 local chapters around us, but the turnout isn't very high. Our chapter is basically made up of older alum who graduated college 7 years ago. Very few "new" alum join the chapter or attend events. Sadly, I am unsure why.

Hopefully, you will have better luck!

i think that it should be up to the members of the alumnae chapter on what they'd like to do. for instance, if they'd like to have a semi-formal dinner for the chapter, then they should do it.

plan out what everyones goals are, where they see this chapter going and what they'd like their money to go to. that will help put everyone on the same page.

and i think if you want a good turn out from fresh alums (one's that just graduated) make sure that the alumnae chapter DOES NOT get involved with any political aspects of the active chapter. stay neutral... be swizterland!

but that's just my $.02

HI Again,

We're working on getting an Alumnae Chapter up and running for Los Angeles. I've got the strip list from CO so now we can start emailing out invitations for our meetings on Oct 10 and Oct 17 - one will be in the Southern portion of Los Angeles and the other in the Valley in Northern LA county.

If any of you know of alumnae living in LA county feel free to spread the word to them. Ask them to email us at PhiSig_LAalum@yahoo.com with their name, chapter, year of graduation/alum status, address, phone number, and their name as a collegiate. This way if they're not on our list from Central Office we can verify their alum status. Plus we can get the invitation out to them by email rather then snail mail. Out of about 800 names only 200 have email addresses so postage is going to cost a lot. We're probably going to send snail mail invites out in stages. Initial invites this time around and then as it gets closer to the next meetings we'll send out more invites, and so on.

LITP,
Carolyn

Oooh! Speaking of Alumnae Chapters..

There is a Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter, but we were told it is inactive because there is no one in the area interested in running it. So I thought I'd post on here cause I know there has to be someone out there interested in getting it up and running again. (Actually, Ali you were the first person to pop into my head when our archon and I were reading the email about it ) I believe we still have the information on who to contact and all that stuff, so if anyone would like me to send it to them or knows an alumnae who would like it just let me know.
