Hi--I lived in Honolulu for a year and a half. I loved it! Even though I was one of the downtrodden grad students! I loved the rainbow of people and their cultures, the weather,the ono food, the variety of things to do...it was incredible!
What was hard for me (besides the cost of rent!) was "rock fever"; I'd always lived in the big old, neverending state of Texas and I suddenly realized that here I was 2500 miles out in the Pacific without any family or longtime friends! It was scary, and that's why lots of people leave. But... I will never forget my wonderful stay there!
