My school, at least within Greeks, is a fairly formal place. I'm sure this is all relative to region, but we have to remember at some schools, people get dressed up. Expensively. All the time.
My whole participation in the 'Sorority Girl Necessities' thread wasn't based on any shallowness...at least, I don't think. Most of the stuff I listed, I told stories about how I got it for less than list price. Also, what I listed was primarily based on observations. I almost thought I HAD to have a Tiffany's bracelet during Rush, since so many of the sisters had them.
