It basically says to start a paper trail, sending letters telling how the problem "compromises your health or safety." Get others in your building to send letters, too. It then says that almost every state has laws stating that landlords have to fix health hazard or uninhabitable risks within a certain amount of time. Some states allow you to "withhold the rent or deduct the cost of repairing it yourself from your rent under certain circumstances." It's just a small column, but when I read it I thought of this thread
