MAjors...part 2

i saw that someone posted something about majors on the chit chat forum, and i wanted to write something but i'm not registered so i'll just write it here(sorry for all that inconvenience) i heard that pharmacists make alot of money too, and i was curious if anyone is majoring in that or knows someone who is b/c i would like to know the level of difficulty in those classes. also, what is an engineer? thanks

any thing heavy in math and science will be difficult and very damanding unless you have a natural propensity towards those subjects.

Most pharmacy programs are 5 years. And they can be tough. It's not the kind of thing you want to invest a lot of time, effort, and money into and then in 3 years decide it's not for you.

my best friend is a pharmacist but that is her second bs degree so i think that the classs were a little easier for her. from what she tells me the classes were not that hard but they were time consuming. the average pay without any experience begins ~38,000 but as with anything it depends where you live. with regards to engineering, it depends on which kind (civil, mechanical,electrical, chemical, aerospace etc)because they do alot of things.

For the most part, engineers design things, with a close second being, pissing technicians off! I'm going to school to be an Elect. Engineer, and when I get out, I could be designing anything from a small circuit board in a computer, to a huge power plant. Or I could be testing anything electrical, or doing R and D for a company.

Depending on what kind company you work for, or what position you're filling, an engineer either designs or maintains processes, or discrete parts of a process.

I worked as a process engineering intern this summer, and I had a blast. Basically, I had the opportunity to troubleshoot a fermentation process. Most of the work I did involved ensuring a tighter control on the pH of a batch process. The one project I did completely on my own involved a batch-recipe change. OK, if you want further explanation on the technical jargon, just email me...I realize this is more than a non-engineer can take!

Where I live, South Carolina, most retail pharmacies probably start you off at AT LEAST 60K...Some chains are more like 70-80K, there is a HUGE pharmacist shortage in our area, and the NC area.

Engineering allows you to do a wide variety of things - i think the basics have been explained well enough above.

I'm a biomedical engineering major - with this, i can do anything from genetics to infomatics, go to medical school, or start doing lab/research work right away. Anyway - it's good stuff. I mean, the classes can suck at times (i'm looking at you, electric circuit theory textbook . . . ), but it's a pretty open field.

I'm a theater major cuz i wanna be a movie star. It is really hard. Harder than you'd think anyway. We have year end reviews coming up, to see if were good enough to be allowed to stay theater majors. i'm just gonna use the same monologe I used for my audition to get in. It got better of the last year, cuz its like, my dream part to play. I've read the play, just that one monologe, but i could kick its ass. Can't wait for my dreams to come true, so i'm gonna go make em happen. Peace out.
