Just a related tangent about this....
So I joined GC in 2001. I was also active on BlackPlanet. When it came to "research"... you know what I did? FIRST, I talked to Alphas I knew in real life! Then when THEY told me "Do your research" (and it was never in a condescending way, either) of course I went to the internet first. And you know what I found?
*BeeJae's website (which gave me a perspective about HAZING with all of the news stories.... and ALSO somewhat of a perspective of how to get to know members)
*Skip's Historical Moments (and I am honored to KNOW Skip now)
*Thorough biographies of the Jewels
And the deeper I looked.... the SMARTER I researched, I found archived news articles about my chapter of interest!
And in the past four years, look what else has changed:

Black Greek 101 was released
*
African American Fraternities and Sororities: The Legacy and the Vision was released
*
Black Haze was released
*
Stomp the Yard came out
*The special edition DVD of
School Daze came out
A lot of people say aspirants are more lazy NOW because of the internet -- hell, there are three more
books out NOW than there were just four years ago and people STILL want to be spoon fed the answers!
As I said earlier, when people told me to "do your research" they did so because they wanted me to learn and APPRECIATE the "jewels" of knowledge I picked up along the way.
(Cuz believe it or not, when you really know some things in advance, it helps you separate fact from legend, but that's another story)
