Ok, I have seen the movie twice . . . for free
This is my take:
Americans don't like knowing or are completely unaware of the realities of politicians or politics.
ITs seems that even the informed people mostly got their opinions out of a poli-sci text book and are just parroting it.
I know we all see that a lot in college: People that recite the words of dead men and women as if those words were their own creation.
Everyone is going on and on about the accuracy of the movie itself. And thats pretty split along partisan lines. However, what people are really upset about is how venal, greedy and inadequate our leaders look when examined up close and personal. And this may very well apply to any presidential administration.
People are not ideologies. People are not political doctrines. People are not slogans.
Politics is mainly about the reallocation of wealth and power. And politicians will often reallocate that towards their friends and people that can help them.
People watch the Moore movie and are shocked that Bush's friends and supporters make enormous amounts of money because he is president. Grow up. Thats a major goal of all people in power. To make sure the people they like and need benefit.
People are dismayed that once deciding on a course of action the people in the administration are willing to use any argument to justify or sell it. Well of course. Spin has been around forever. People want what they want and they say almost anything they need to say get their goal.
Why does any of this surprise people?
