Since when is having an abortin something you should be proud of?!? I just don't see this as a decision that you would want to broadcast to the World.

Maybe the purchasers see it as a sign of empowerment. Not that it something to be PROUD of but not something they are ashamed of, either.

The whole reason these "I had an abortion" shirts even happened was that, in France about 10 years ago, a lawmaker said that women who have had abortions really won't ever become much and they'll still end up having kids they can't afford and become a drain on society. I think he said something to the effect of, "show me a successful woman who has terminated her pregnancy."

So, in response to that, a fairly large group of powerful women in French government, businesss, etc. decided to come forward in a major newspaper and admit that they had had abortions. In the US, the Ms Foundation decided to do the same, but...with T-shirts.

Kind of creepy, huh?
