		| I'm not sure if it's actually meant to be a "new member manual" or a historical book, but the one I was given is called "The Legacy of Gamma Phi Beta - Love Labor Learning Loyalty". | That's actually just the history book. The manual our new members usually get is called the Lifetime Membership Manual, although I am not sure that all chapters are still distributing it.

The old one was called "The Legion of Honor".
The new one is just LEAD Phase I.

I have no idea. Any Tri Delts know? All I know is the day after our pledging ceremony we were handed CDs. They crashed 2 girls computers. I didn't even bother putting it in mine.
I was very upset that our new member books are on CDs... espeically ones that crash computers.
The book from my local was called "Alpha Theta Phi Pledge Book".

 | Our history, info about NPC etc. is on a CD but the activity manual the NMs follow and track their progress is in a book - you actually use it through all 4 phases of Advantage. I wish they'd dispense with the CD and put the history back in book form as well.

 | I agree. We call ours "probationary members," which indicates it's not a done deal yet. We still use "pledge" as a verb -- e.g., he pledged last spring.

 | Good point about the issue of using the term "new member". Never liked that term and never considered that.

My Fraternity still uses the term "pledge". I had no issued with the term when I pledged. This mindset of using the term is hazing, then having to come up with a new term is silly.

"probationary members" atleast better conveys what a pledge is then some of the other terms used. But pledge is shorter and simpler.

 | I like the idea of CDS. Ours has really peaceful background music and I really enjoyed it. However, I do wish we had gotten it in book form as well.

Our manual doesn't have a specific name, but it comes in a book called a PEARL Planner, modeled off of the Franklin Covey planners. It's TRES cool
