The chance that this girl was going to get jail time is slim. She's been in therapy since the incident (as well as being hospitalized for part of that time). Between the $9000-14400 that she'll have to pay in restitution and the thousands of dollars her family will no doubt be spending on therapy, I think that's a decent punishment and will allow her to get her act together.
IMO there's no reason why a girl like this should be in jail when her real issues clearly had to do with her mental health. Hopefully therapy will help her work out these issues.
